The idea of a ‘warm welcoming’ was a key concept we really wanted to embody in the architecture. Using natural tones the idea extends into the use of hand-sawn timber and a complimentary textured wall finish to create a gentle space to be in.
While sounding out ideas with the client, we were keen to treat the garden as a room in its own right, allowing functions you might expect to do inside to extend out into the open air.
A skylight punctuates the dining and kitchen areas, while latitudinal timber beams create a sense of rhythm and depth. With a long procession, the architecture provides multiple areas to linger, sit, relax and work. Through its daily use it allows ample opportunity to create mindful interactions as you move through the house.
